What disorder is it called when you’re betting a lot with yourself?

Also, some information please.

I keep betting with myself in mind over trifle things, even how long it takes to flush the toilet. This is awful.

I need to know what is causing this, and how it can be treated.

Answer

It sounds like you may be engaging in compulsive or excessive self-betting behavior. While this specific behavior does not have a specific name, it may be a sign of an underlying issue such as a gambling disorder or an obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Gambling disorder is characterized by a persistent and recurring problem with gambling, leading to significant distress or impairment in personal, family, or vocational pursuits. It is not limited to betting with money but can also manifest in the form of self-betting on trivial things.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a mental health condition characterized by recurring and intrusive thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors (compulsions) that the individual feels compelled to perform.

If you find that this behavior is causing you significant distress or affecting your daily life, it’s crucial to consult with a mental health professional, such as a psychologist or psychiatrist, for a thorough assessment and appropriate treatment recommendations. Treatment options may include therapy (such as cognitive-behavioral therapy), support groups, and, in some cases, medication.

I’m not sure what it is called. But, sometimes I do that just for fun! I was really bad when I was little. Its started out by playing 4-square……i would throw the ball up in the air and see how many times i could clap. If i didnt do better the next time i would get really really mad at myself.
It bugged my so bad that I stopped thinking about it. I changed my routine of things differently.
Like: instead of seeing how long it took me to run up the stairs going forwards faster…..i would just slowly walk up the stairs BACKWARDS! lol!
what you can do is every morning when you wake up…..look in the mirror, straitght into your eyes and tell yourself that it’s not a compatition.
for the toliet thing…..(this sounds really wierd) but if you live with someone else, then when you go to the bathroom….dont flush. have the other person do it for you. then your mind will soon forget about it and you should be fine.
so just do the mirror thing whenever you think its nessasary and i’m quite sure you will do better. even pray if you have to.
